The Marina Bay Sands is one of the famous landmarks and tourist attractions in Singapore. It is located at the heart of the Lion City in the Bayfront Subzone, Downtown Core, Singapore. After its grand opening in 2011, the resort and casino hotel continues to attract visitors who want to experience sophistication and luxury during their visit to Singapore.
In this blog, I will be sharing with you our personal experience during our stay in Marina Bay Sands on November 11-12, 2022. We booked a Deluxe King Harbour View with complimentary breakfast through their website. We made the booking a day before our stay, so we actually paid for the peak rate, and when we booked it, we just selected the cheapest room available.
Marina Bay Sands is just a short walk away from The Shoppes mall, Gardens by the Bay, Art Science Museum, and other well-known tourist attractions. One of the perks of staying at the hotel is that you will have access to their Skypark Observation Deck and Infinity Pool. However, tourists can enjoy the Skypark Observation Deck without the need to book a room (fees apply); the Infinity Pool is only available to guests.
Booking and Check-in Experience
As mentioned earlier, we booked through their website but opted to pay at the hotel. Booking through their website is fast and easy, as well as paying at the hotel, since they accept debit and credit cards (Visa and MasterCard).
The check-in process was smooth and efficient. There were several hotel staff attending to the guests, so they already knew what you need before you tell them. The hotel staff and receptionist were very friendly, too, and thankfully, they also spoke good English.
Room and Amenities
Our room is located in Hotel Tower 3. The room was about 35 sq.m. in size, noticeably neat and clean, has an executive desk, and includes a flat screen TV with a welcome message for us on it.
The bathroom is big as well, features a glass-enclosed shower, and comes with luxurious amenities. The pantry and fridge were stocked with drinks and snacks such as soda, juice, water, chips, and mixed nuts.
Our room view was incredibly amazing, too. Since we opted for the harbour view, we had a bird’s eye view of the bustling Marina Bay’s picturesque waterfront and the Gardens by the Bay. It was really exhilarating!
The only issue that I had is that despite the luxurious setting, their room doesn’t have a bidet. And as a Filipino, I considered a bidet as one of the most important parts of the bathroom. I was little sad about it, but I managed to improvise so I didn’t let it affect my POV of the hotel.
Facilities and Services
Since the hotel is connected to The Shoppes mall, the lobby and restaurants were a little crowded. We were hungry so we ordered a room service meal. The food didn’t disappoint, and so was the service of the food attendant.
They took the extra effort to set up the table to make it look like a candlelight dinner date for two. Well, the price also did not disappoint. Lol. After dinner, we decided to go for a swim and explore the world’s largest infinity pool on the 57th floor of the hotel – the iconic Skypark Infinity Pool.
And there, we witnessed another magical and breathtaking view of the city. The infinity pool really feels infinite, literally and figuratively – it seems endless. The water is cold since it’s nighttime, so it will definitely help you relieve your stress, improve your mood, and clear your mind.
The fact that the pool is located on the 57th floor kinda made us fearful because when we peer over the edge, we can really feel the height. However, there is actually a small sidewalk-like extension to ensure the safety of the guests. Aside from that, we also got to witness the Spectra – A Light and Water Show from the pool.
Location
Going to and from Marina Bay Sands is easy since there is a train station connected to the mall – the Marina Bay MRT Station. And since the hotel is connected to the mall, you’ll have great options when in comes to restaurants and luxury stores.
While you are there, you may also want to try and explore their casino since it offers free entry to tourists. Gambling is not a good way to earn extra cash but if you have money to blow and don’t have an addictive sort of personality, then you might as well try it. 🙂
Value for Money
Personally, staying at Marina Bay Sands for a night is a little expensive. Well, not just a little, but really expensive! We paid a total of SGD 1,234.67 (about ₱50,000) for a one-night stay in their Deluxe Room with complimentary breakfast.
It is a once-in-a-lifetime experience for me, but if you appreciate luxury and money is not an issue, then Marina Bay Sands is definitely for you. The service is excellent, the food is great, and the amenities are exemplary.
I honestly could not think of anything that the hotel needs to improve. Hmm… perhaps the bathroom that needs a bidet as my personal preference. Haha. My overall experience was amazing. It happened in 2022, but I could still feel the warmth of their staff and the quality of service that they offered us. If money allows, I will definitely go back there for another once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Final Thoughts
Marina Bay Sands may be pricey but it’s something you might want to splurge on if you want a taste of luxury and sophistication in this side of the planet. It was truly a 5-star kind of stay, thanks to their attentive staff who really made us feel like royalty.
